Dedicated to the well respected violinist Francois van Hal. The A major polonaise was composed in 1870 and was likely originally accompanied by a full orchestra. It works primarily as an intermediary show piece rather than an encore given its length. But it would not be frowned upon to perform it in any concert setting or moment - it is made to please the crowd with brilliant virtuosic passages. His first Polonaise is equally loved and similarly virtuosic: Wieniawski Polonaise Brillante No.1 (Sheet music and Piano-accompaniment track)
