The Introduction and Tarantella was dedicated to friend of Sarasate and concert pianist, Fermín Toledo in 1899. A Tarantella is known as a partnered folk dance with Italian origins. It is typically played or composed in a 6/8 time signature. Another well known Tarantella for violin is Wieniawski's 'Scherzo Tarantelle'.
