Liebesfreud is the opening and most technical of three romantic compositions belonging to 'Three Old Viennese Dances' or 'Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen'. Kreisler attributed them to popular waltz and dance music composer Joseph Lanner (1801-1843). The violinist must course through a multitude of double-stops, reaching the lyrical theme at the piu lento - grazioso. This is followed by a return to the original theme and later, two new themes are introduced. This waltz is, no doubt, fiery and joyful.
