Après un rêve or 'After a Dream' is the first of three songs Faure had dedicated to Madame Marguerite Baugnies. The French libretto was written by Romain Bussine, a poet and voice teacher. A beautiful quote from the libretto is: ta voix pure et sonore, Tu rayonnais comme un ciel éclairé par l'aurore. It can be translated to: your voice pure and sonorous, You shone like a sky lit by dawn.
