The first known edition of this fiery show-piece was published in London by Augener & Co in 1886, according to WorldCat. Fun and exciting, as a tarantella-style dance should be, the composition was dedicated to an attorney referred to only as ''J. D. Harris Esq. Bath". Information is available on only one person who fits the name and potentially fits the timeline; John Dove Harris, D. 1878 of Ratcliffe Hall. Admittedly, it is unclear how Mr. Harris could have had any effect on Mr. Squire's life given that Squire would only be seven years old when the attorney passed, though Mr. Harris was quite accomplished and may have produced long-term benefits.
